It’s the first update for The Sims Freeplay of 2023! Be sure to update your games when this update goes live at 9.30PM UTC Tuesday 24th January 2023.

Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, we’re continuing to celebrate the importance of representation by delivering a new face type and a Hair Hobby event that features curly and textured hairstyles for adult Sims that were suggested by our community! We’re grateful for the voices from our Black community – you continue to help us pave the way in our development.

New Face Type

Have you been enjoying the new refreshed look of elder, adult, teen and preteen life stages since our October update? We promised that we’d continue our journey of delivering more customization options, so this update we’re delivering one new face type so more of you can continue to see yourselves in The Sims FreePlay!

To explore the new face for elder, adult, teen and preteen Sims, jump into the Create A Sim menu by clicking on your preferred Sim and pressing Ultimate Makeover. It no longer costs 12 Lifestyle Points to change their DNA – we’ve kept it reduced to 2 LP for the duration of this update, to say thanks to our passionate community!

New Hair Hobby – Embrace the ‘Fro!

Last year, we released a brand-new Hair Hobby ‘Oh So Ombre’ that included a gorgeous range of incredibly detailed authentic ombre hairstyles that suit all available skin tones. In this update, we’ve created another new edition that includes more culturally diverse styles that can be worn by both male and female Sims. 

Begin the new hobby event anytime during the month of February, so make sure you’re up to level 16 and have built the ‘Promotions R Us’ store (found in front of the park, next to the pet shop) in your SimTown so you can unlock all 32 variants within the 7-day time limit!

 

Since February 2022, SimGuruAlana [https://twitter.com/SimGuruAlana] has been collating your feedback about the African American content you want to see more of in FreePlay. Our artists have worked hard all year round by adding dozens of player-suggested African American inspired customization options across multiple updates, to help continue diversifying the Sims in your SimTown. Plus, check out our social channels during February to see the behind the scenes of how we’ve brought YOUR ideas to life!

‘Wedding Belles’ Live Event

We’ve heard your requests on our social channels loud and clear for this to return, so we’re giving the gift of the much loved ‘Wedding Belles’ Live Event (first ran in 2017) to you! It’s time to make your plans and bring your romantic vision to life. Have your Sims tie the knot in the ultimate wedding venue house location.

Style your entire bridal party with gorgeous bridesmaid dresses, hairstyles, wedding dresses, and tuxedos in a variety of designs and colors. Ensure your Sim’s big day is perfect with all the extras to make their day more meaningful, like flower decorations, bridal and guest tables, chandeliers, an amazing wedding cake, and more.

 

Architect Home Templates – EA Creator Round 

You may have seen some of the latest templates in the Architect Homes real estate tab have been created by our very own EA Creators [https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-freeplay/creator-spotlight ]! To party it up in style for the 23rd Birthday, VictoriaSimz, Michiiiro and SalixTheCat have created three ultimate party houses, perfect for hosting a celebration. Each is filled with iconic objects from FreePlay’s archives! You can purchase any of the templates from the Architect Homes tab for a limited time only, between 2nd – 16th February 2023.

‘Charming Cottage’ Live Event

If you need a reason to swap the highlife for a more simpler lifestyle by moving your Sims into a cozy cottage, this is your sign! Craft resources throughout the 13-day event to unlock milestone prizes that will help you embrace the escapism of a busy city life, which include floral wallpaper, large patterned rugs, rustic paintings and an antique fireplace.

The large countryside grand prize house lot features a pet love bird on a swing, a picketed fence with landscaped front and rear gardens filled with flowers, a vineyard and greenhouse, plus cobblestone paths and exclusive rustic bedroom and living room furniture you’ve only dreamed about throughout every room! 

SimChase Season 53: Scullery Scuffle

Race against a rival Sim to beat them to the grand prize! Complete tasks to earn progress points and unlock milestone rewards along the way, including:

Influence Island Event – Season 33

Welcome the Year of the Rabbit! This year, the rabbit zodiac represents hope and a life for a long time. Convince Sims on Influence Island to join your clan and win the grand prize. In the latest season, unlock authentic cultural rewards that were created in collaboration with our EA Asian internal resource group! Prizes include abstract wall art, floor standing lanterns, Asian-inspired dining table and chairs, sofas and buffet tables, adult long braids hairstyles and outfits and more. Sims will also be able to gift other Sims traditional red and gold envelopes, that are generally filled with money and symbolize good wishes and luck for the year ahead.
