Bunk beds finally added to The Sims 4

Simmers rejoice! Bunk beds have now been added to The Sims 4 along with some other items and tweaks.

(This is one of the new loft beds. I have placed a single bed in the tile beneath it)

Yesterday a patch went live which contains not only the long-awaited bunk beds but also some new hairstyles, improved textures on console, trait improvements, and more!

You can read the official patch notes here.

Setting the politics of ‘this stuff should have been in the game anyway’ aside, it’s always great to get free stuff.

So, how are the bunk beds?

As a gameplay object, I think they work great! There are varying styles and colours which can be used by both adults and children. The animation of the Sim climbing up onto and off the bunk bed is stunning. I’m really impressed with them!

Unfortunately, on the loft beds, there are some issues with the tiles beneath them being useable (one tile is useable with the move object cheat) but that is spurring on some creativity from many Simmers for the time being.

It would be nice if we had an update of something where there wasn’t anything wrong with it. It’s almost to be expected now and that’s sad.

I haven’t noticed any great impact from the trait improvements as of yet.

There is a new ‘relax’ option on beds which sometimes works nicely, they can relax and watch a TV in bed for example, and other times you will notice you sim starring manically forwards without blinking. Perhaps a comfortable stare?

This isn’t an update that has made me want to start playing for long periods again but it’s a tiny step in the right direction.
