A destination wedding doesn’t always mean jet-setting across the globe and getting married on the beach (although that does sound incredible). Instead, you can enjoy all the benefits of a destination wedding without leaving the country. Travelling for your wedding to go somewhere outside of your hometown and perhaps several hours away can make it feel like a destination wedding without the jetlag and stressful airport experience. So, how can you make the most of your destination wedding?

Get There A Few Days Early

You don’t want to arrive on the day of your wedding, especially if you’ve travelled far. Making the most of your city break wedding includes getting there a few days (or even a week) early. This gives you the chance to relax and experience the area as a couple before everyone else arrives. Ideally, your wedding party can get there a couple of days before the wedding too, giving you the chance to have a fun night as a group before the other guests arrive.

And Stay A Little Longer

Likewise, you don’t want to leave the day after the wedding, either, even if you’re going on your honeymoon. Staying a little longer gives you and your partner the chance to unwind and collect yourselves after the celebrations. You might even have plans to honeymoon in this area anyway, so you can make the most of the downtime before your next adventure.

Pick Somewhere Special

Everyone has their favourite place and you should remember this when picking the perfect venue for your wedding. If there is a specific spot where you first met or got engaged, then this can help you find a place that means something to both of you. Of course, you’ll need to consider other factors, such as how your guests can get there, but this should be more straightforward than expecting them to get on a plane.

Find A Picturesque Spot

Researching the most beautiful places in the UK can give you plenty of ideas about where your wedding takes place and these places don’t even need to be special to you already. Since you’re getting married there, it will be special afterwards, and you can plan to visit this spot throughout your years together as a couple and–later–a family perhaps. A scenic wedding will also look great in your photographs, and you can choose from incredible hillside views to more modest and cute village locations, which is what you’ve always wanted from your big day.

Leave the Planning to the Pros

Wedding planning is stressful, and you don’t want to spend so much time worrying that you don’t make the most of the time surrounding the wedding. You can overcome this by hiring a wedding planner to take care of all the small but essential details. They can ensure everything runs smoothly while you focus on enjoying yourself because that’s what matters most.

Destination Destiny

Whether you choose the stunning sights of the Peak District or prefer the luxurious style of some of the country’s most exciting cities, what matters most is that you enjoy your day and make the most of the whole trip because it’s an experience that will only happen once.
